Cubmaster Corner - September Edition

Pack 442! I am so proud of how great our scouts have engaged the start of the year. We have had an action packed calendar and it has been great seeing so many scouts at the events. We ended August with our annual Shooting Sports Day out at Camp Tom Wooten. It was hot, but the scouts were having a blast learning about the shooting sports adventures. I was so excited to see all of the adventures that weere earned from that weekend. Most of our scouts are between a third or better in earning their badge of range through the first few events. Keep up the great work! As we turn the calendar towards the Fall, our schedule will slow down and we will begin focusing on Den Meetings and getting a lot of he work done before the winter break. Do what you can do attend the Den Meetings or work something out with your Den Leaders, and we will continue to host some great monthly Pack Events, highlighted below.

For those that have not registered for the Pack Overnight at the San Antonio, now is the TIME! RSVPs will close in next couple of weeks and we need to finalize our head count. RSVP Here!

FINANCIAL UPDATE:

FUNDRAISER KICK-OFF

We have had a fantastic start to our Fundraiser this year! Thank you for all the families helping give us a great start this holiday weekend. I am excited to see the numbers from in this week from our Fundrasing Committee. Thank you so much to Joslin Winston and Josh Clark, as well as support from Wes Kener and Eric Vigil getting this all set up and giving us such a great start this past week. We hope all of the existing scout families are apprecaiting the return to the old system of showing up and selling at the storefronts. This in large part to the above leaders as well as other leaders and volunteers in the pack. Thank you all for providing a helping hand this past weekend and we look forward to seeing the scouts continue to grow, working with the community to support their efforts.

Fundraiser Incentives

DUES

A quick reminder that each year, dues are $350, with half ($175) due at the start of the year. If you participate in the fundraiser, we ask you to focus on reaching the $175 profit goal, after paying your initial dues for the year. If you do not plan on particpating in the fundraiser, please go ahead and pay the full $350 for the year. If you desire to use the fundraiser to cover the full $350, please go ahead and plan for that and let Eric or one of your leaders know.

If you are receiving emails from Scoutng America to pay your membership fee, please ignore it as the pack pays for this. But we WONT pay this fee until your initial dues payment has been made, so please do so. If you have already paid it, please submit a receipt to Eric and we can reduce your dues or get you a reimbursement.

September Pack Meeting (Bike Rodeo) - Monday, September 14th 6:30pm - 8:00pm @ Lakeway Church Upper Sanctuary Parking Lot

It's bike rodeo time! Bring your bike and helmet for fun stations, games, safety, and bike repair!

This is our monthly ALL PACK meeting for Scouts and parents. Each pack meeting typically revolves around a theme related to badge activities.

Pack Overnight - Saturday, October 3rd 6:30pm - Sunday, October 4th, 8:30am @ San Antonio Zoo

We will be joining the incredible animals at the San Antonio this year for our Fall Pack Overnight. We will enjoy animal presentations, zoo activities, and a guided flashlight tour of the zoo after dark. In the morning, we will discover how the zoo prepares for the day during a short tour. Should make for a fun and unique overnight experience. The experience is $65 per person (scouts, adults and siblings) and the age minimum is 5 years old.

Pack Parent Meeting - Monday, October 6th 6:30am - 8:00pm @ Lakeway Church Rm 205 (Building C)

All parents are welcome to join us for our monthly Pack Committee Meeting, where we will discuss and plan out details for any of the upcoming pack events and activities. This is the last one before the Fall Family Campout, so we'll have a lot to discuss.

Den Meetings - Are beginning this month, so please make sure to RSVP through Scoutbook and attend those meetings.

REGISTRATION:

Marking Advancements for Completion at Home: 

There may be times you have to miss a meeting or event and need to complete an advancement at home. If you work on any advancement at home, you can log into Scoutbook and mark the advancement as complete for your Den Leader to approve. Below is a guide on how to do that.

If you are enrolled in a swimming program outside of scouts, please let your Den Leader know, as you automatically qualify for the swimming adventure for each rank. Your Den Leader can help you mark it off for completion so your scout can receive the adventure.

Google Photos

We have a shared google photos account, where you can upload and share photos from events and activities. These photos are no public, and the sharing is meant to provide photos and memories to everyone in the pack. If we use a photo for our publications, we will ensure that all scouts in the photo have a photo waiver on record.

If you have not filled out a Photo Media Release, please consider doing so.

CLOSING:

As the weather hopefully starts to cool off, I am inspired by all of the great little men we are growing in our pack. Scouting is a unique program that benefits our children well into the future. As you attend events, participate in meetings and enjoy the thrills of the year, remember everything our scouts are learning, through succecss, through failure and through collaboration with fellow scouts. We apprecaite all of you parents for allowing your boys to be apart of this adventure and chosing to grow with us. Always feel free to reach out if you ever need anything or have any questions.
